Francis Acea (born in 1967 in Havana) is an artist known for his inspiration from what The Language of Objects in the Art of the Americas describes as “the often anonymous creations of provisional art.”[1] Along with artist Diango Hernández, also inspired by the provisional art movement in Cuba, he formed the Ordo Amoris Cabinet.[1] Acea is a graduate of the Havana Superior Institute of Design.[2] As of 2023, Acea lives between New York, NY, and Florida, FL. Acea has exhibited internationally, solo, and in group. Ordo Amoris Cabinet ceased in 2003 and Francis Acea sought asylum in the US. While working in different media such as painting, installation, and photography, Francis Acea shows a keen interest in the collision between art and economics, namely the Art Market. His current works explore the notion of value in contemporary capitalism. In 2004, he created a media company publishing in print and online. As of 2023, Acea lives and works between New York, NY, and Florida, FL.

The “Coca-Cola of Forgetting” is a phrase that gained popularity in Cuban culture after 1959, referring to the lack of communication with family members who emigrated to the United States. Letters were frequently lost many taking up to several years to reach their destination, making it nearly impossible for families to keep their ties intact. Gradually the family gap grew and the “emigres” would have drunk “Coca-Cola of Forgetting”, that is, they forgot about their past.

The print is a graphic version of the original painting by Franc si Acea titled “Cuban American Classic”: a pictorial parody of the Coca-Cola Classic logo, but replacing the word  ‘Classic” with the phrase “Del Olvido”.

This edition of 50/50 prints by Francis Acea was created during the sit-down between the Barack Obama admin, and the Castro family leaders in 2015. It looked like both governments had decided to drink “La Coca-Cola del Olvido”. Produced by One Sun Media in exclusive collaboration with the artist.

For art collectors, galleries, and buyers, a Certificate of Authenticity  (COD) is more than a piece of paper; it instills confidence in the investment. It offers a level of assurance regarding the artwork’s originality and can enhance its market value. As the art market continues to evolve, the importance of proper documentation, including COAs, becomes increasingly significant in establishing the credibility and provenance of artworks.

The Hahnemühle Certificate of Authenticity was designed to protect the security and genuineness of your limited edition artworks and reproductions and to reduce the risk of forgery. Each certificate is made of premium deckle-edged mold-made paper with a Hahnemühle watermark and fluorescent security fibers.

A serialized numbered hologram should be added. A second, identically numbered hologram should then be applied to the reverse side of the artwork. The combination of certificate and hologram assures that each Certificate of Authenticity relates to one particular piece of art.

Each COA emitted by One Sun Media is manually signed by the artist, and stamped with the artist’s seal, as well as with One Suns Media’s (Publisher) seal.
